Cat litter is a material specifically designed to absorb cat waste. It comes in various materials, mainly divided into two categories: organic and inorganic. Specifically:
1. Inorganic Cat Litter
Bentonite Cat Litter
Ingredients: Natural clay minerals (mainly montmorillonite), which swell and clump upon contact with water.
Features: Extremely absorbent, clumps tightly, inexpensive, but produces a lot of dust and cannot be flushed down the toilet.
Derivative Types: Lightweight cat litter, water-soluble cat litter, etc.
Silica Gel (Crystal) Cat Litter
Ingredients: Silica granules, chemically stable, non-toxic and odorless.
Features: Changes color after absorbing moisture to indicate needing replacement, dust-free and antibacterial, but does not clump and requires separate cleaning of feces; granules are easily ingested by cats.
Zeolite Cat Litter
Ingredients: Natural zeolite minerals, porous structure absorbs odors.
Features: Durable and has good deodorizing effect, often used with a double-layer litter box.
2.Organic Cat Litter
Plant Fiber Cat Litter
Pine Wood Cat Litter: Compressed pine wood chips, dissolves in urine, flushable, natural wood scent for odor control, but some cats dislike the woody feel.
Tofu/Corn Cat Litter: Made from soybean residue or corn cobs, environmentally friendly and biodegradable, good clumping properties, but prone to mold in damp environments.
Paper Piece Cat Litter: Processed from recycled pulp, soft and low-dust, suitable for cats after surgery, but less absorbent.
Grain Cat Litter
Wheat/Green Tea Cat Litter: Contains starch or tea leaves, naturally deodorizing, flushable, but may attract insects.
3.Specialty Cat Litter
Smart Cat Litter: Incorporating pH monitoring technology to detect pet health status through urine.
Color-Changing Cat Litter: Uses color changes to indicate cleaning frequency.
Blended Cat Litter: Combines the advantages of bentonite clay and plant-based litter (such as Pidan blended litter), balancing clumping and environmental friendliness.
